In this work, the network simulation framework OMNeT++ is used to act as HiL (Hardware in the Loop) environment. This framework can be used in several industries to test the components which are communicating over different Ethernet based networks. For the automotive industry the Scalable service-Oriented MiddlewarE over IP (SOME/IP) is implemented into the environment to show the concept "Ethernet simulation framework as Hardware in the loop environment". Therefore a simulation has been created to communicate to real hardware just as pure simulation of the network. With the exposed solution the framework can be used for restbus simulation, rapid prototyping and pure network simulation.
