With the growing aggravation of energy shortage and global warming, the low-carbon and energy-saving of ship have become the most important subject. In this paper, based on the traditional diesel power plant, introducing the diesel/ new energy hybrid power plant, the energy constitution for ocean-going fishing vessels is analyzed towards low-carbon. By investigating the power requirements of main propulsion, sub-engine power generation and auxiliary boiler system for the ocean-going fishing vessels during operations process, the energy consumption characteristic of it is researched. Based on this, combining the assessment reports of intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) and global warming potential (GWP), considering carbon emission of production for new energy power plant, the carbon-emissions of ocean-going fishing vessels with diesel power plant and diesel/new energy hybrid power plant are all quantified. The necessity of new energy application in fishing vessels is verified by numerical example.
