In-orbit testing of Modulation Transfer Function (MTF) is an important index of monitoring in-oribit operation performance of the space optical remote sensors. How to grasp the change of remote sensor imaging system in operational process accurately concerns the use of remote sensing data reasonably and effectively. We analyse the knife-edge method for testing the principle of the MTF and the simulation algorithm, and tests the accuarcy of the algorithm. The analysis results demonstrate that the algorithm of this paper has higher precision for the calculation of MTF of in-oribit remote sensing image, and can resist noise effectively. Whats more, we focus on anlaysing the main factors of the precision of edge method influenced by edge fitting. The analysis results show that the edge data need to be interpolated non-parametrically when the edge is fitting.
