The Requirements Engineering Framework for driving dynamics control systems focuses on relevant functional aspects on each level of the development process. Thus it leads to a lean and efficient requirements engineering process which fosters a targetorientated architecture and design of chassis control systems. It utilizes the flexibility of a function-oriented perspective to satisfy demands on a systems engineering process. The Requirements Engineering Framework with its definitions of elements, rela tions and attributes allows the precise and procedural binding deduction of component or software requirements from overall requirements on vehicle dynamics. Methods to establish bidirectional connections between artifacts lead to a traceability of requirements and a better understanding of complex chassis control systems. The application of the Requirements Engineering Framework in the chassis development process reveals the needs for a further integration of mechanic parts into the function-oriented view of the Requirements Engineering Framework. The integration is necessary in order to achieve a holistic development of both mechatronic and mechanic chassis components. Increased knowledge on the extent and the characteristics of dependencies between mechanic, mechatronic and E/E-components may lead to a better understanding of complex cause-effect-relationships as they arise from highly cross-linked driving dynamics control systems.
