Polymer varnish coat with metallic filler (microtiles of aluminium) was removed by laser technique (ablation) from metal self-supporting motor vehicle body with corrosion products and surface pitting. The fiber laser with radiation wave length 1064 nm, the exposition time of the laser impulse 25 ns and the repetition frequency 30 kHz to 500 kHz was used. By changing the power density, frequency, degree of pulses covering and the speed of scanning, the various effects of removing varnish coats were got. The melting of the colourless varnish coat was observed when the low power density was used. Multiple scanning by laser bundle with higher power density resulted in sequential removing the varnishing coat. The process can be used for the renovation of varnishing coats applied in present car vehicles (bodies, frames).
