A quantum dot (QD)-based anodized-aluminum temperature-sensitive paint (AA-TSP) was developed as a global temperature sensor. By using anodized-aluminum as a QD support, the sensor provides a temperature detection range from 100 K to 500 K. By fitting a four-parameter sigmoid to the temperature calibration, it is determined that AA-TSP gives the best temperature sensitivity: -1.3 %/K at 245 K. A red-shift of 20 nm is noted while increasing the temperature. A solvent study for applying QD on an anodized-aluminum surface shows that chloroform as a dipping solvent gives the best temperature sensitivity and signal level.
