The next generation of military rotorcraft will contain avionics similar in nature to today's aircraft. There will be primary flight displays, electronic moving maps with tactical battlefield information, helmet mounted displays, and the control of onboard and offboard sensor imagery. This information will be highly dynamic, complex, and come from multiple sources. However, tomorrow's military rotorcraft display formats and control methods / technologies will be significantly different from today. These differences will be for the benefit of the pilot and allow him/her to intuitively interact with their equipment, increase their performance, and cope with the cognitive demands resulting from the growing magnitude and complexity of information available. This paper will present the alternative human machine interface display and control concepts that have been developed and discuss results fromhuman factors testing of these new concepts.
