For automotive glazing the material polycarbonate offers potentials for weight reduction of the vehicle, for highly differentiated design and for integration of different technical components in one part. The aim of the project MINERVA is the development of an ultra resistant coating on PC for protection against UV radiation and abrasion that meet the requirements of the automotive industry. The coating system is based on nano composites. Plasma technology is used for thin film deposition to overcome the drawbacks of well known wet chemical processes. The project consortium covers the whole value creation chain, especially the attendance of an OEM, ensures the efficient transfer of the results into the market.
