On the technology roadmap (TRM) of the Canadian textile industry the transportation sector stands out as a promising market sector. Technical textiles, nonwovens and composites continue to contribute advantageous and profitable solutions to various sectors of transportation industry. The transportation industry comprises different sectors, each with its own particular needs and challenges: the automotive sector, the public transit sector, and the aeronautics sector. Detailed knowledge of the supply chain in each of the sub-sectors can help establish tangible strategic action plans. Since every sector of the transportation industry is extremely fragmented and diversified, it is imperative to understand the particular dynamic of the target market. Strategically, the Canadian textile industry must concentrate its efforts on Tiers 2, 3 and 4. Despite the multiplication of standards and specifications, the textile industry can introduce and provide solutions that are different, accessible and profitable for assemblers and integrators.
