Overhead presentation. The applicability of computer tomography (CT) for the inspection of carbon fibre reinforced palstics (CRFP) is discussed in the prensentation. CT is a non-destructive testing method with a wide application field: - Defect detection (Pores, voids, inclusions; delaminations, fiber ondulations). - Material characterization (Fiber volume content, fiber orientation, fiber length distribution). - Dimensional measurement (Fitting of regular geometries, spheres, cones, actual / nominal comparison). The advantages are: Analysis and visualization of complex formed objects is possible as well as the inspection of inner structures. The following issues are being discussed in the paper: X-ray Computed Tomography; Aquisition Geometries; CT-Scanners; Examples of high-resolution CT; Robot-CT; Material Characterization; Object Inspection. Drawbacks of CT are: Expensive, long scanning time, huge number of influence factors on image quality, experienced staff necessary.
