In this paper, a new robust active suspension control scheme is developed so that the ride comfort at any specified location becomes best. To achieve this end, a combined ideal vehicle is designed so that the ride comfort at a specified location becomes best by setting only one design parameter. To achieve the good property stated above in an actual vehicle, a robust tracking controller is proposed. It is shown by numerical simulations that the ride comfort at a specified location can be easily improved and good robustness for vehicle mass and moment of inertia of vehicle body, the position of the center of gravity, front and rear suspension stiffness, damping rate, and tire spring stiffness is confirmed.
