Prototypes of cars and car elements were created by method of three-dimensional printing. The principles of manufacturing of prototypes with application of additive methods of rapid prototyping (RP) were described. Possibilities of RP and its role in technological process for manufacturing car elements (engine, driving system, car body) were presented. Process for construction of prototypes by 3DP was described from the stage of designing, through the program processing of data, up to construction of the physical prototypes. Possibility of application of the 3DP method as technique of rapid manufacturing was also presented. The area of applications of rapid prototyping in the car industry and its practical importance is still increasing. The new technique can contribute to a substantial acceleration of the designing and manufacturing the car elements.
