To investigate the possibilities of improving the stability of the properties of welded joints in 1420 alloy (wire Sv-AMg63), and also the efficiency of welded elements, tests were carried out with manual and automatic argon-shielded non-consumable electrode welding using a scanning arc, asymmetric current of different polarity with the rectangular wave shape, with the application of pulsed current passes, and also plasma welding in the continuous and pulsed regime. The results and also experience with the welding of Al-Li alloys indicate that it is important to automate the welding process in the fabrication of welded structures. Manual argon-arc TIG welding can be used in the fabrication of non-critical sections and in the repair of defects (backing welding). The selection of individual welding methods depends on the conditions of manufacture of a specific welded component; for example, in welding components with a complicated spatial configuration, and it is recommended to use automatic welding with a scanning act. The quality of the welded joints improved in automatic loading with the application of current passes and automatic loading with asymmetric current. Plasma welding greatly reduces the heating caused in the formation of the welded joint.
