The paper describes the way ThyssenKrupp Presta has selected to establish and implement software (SW) development processes, to integrate SW development with the existing mechanical world, to improve business process management. In this paper only some important spotlights are shown, together with some lessons learned. Within the automotive industry the development of an ECU (Electronic Control Unit, mechatronics system) requires a parallel development of hardware (HW) and SW. Furthermore the hardware dependant software as a part of the software development depends very much on the selected hardware and furthermore on the changes within the hardware development. Therefore it is necessary to model both processes for HW and SW development according to one and the same principle to avoid interface problems.
