This paper presents a HCPSO (hybrid co-evolutionary based multi-objective Particle Swarm Optimization) method. The proposed algorithm is structured via a multi-agent system. The proposed algorithm is tested and validated using testfunktions. As a practical application, the method is applied to the hull subdivision design of a Ro-Ro ship. Multi-agent based ship design decision systems have receivwed attention and distributed cooperative ship design via the internet is becoming a new research field. Design environments involving multi-agent systems contribute to such future design environments. For the internal hull subdivision problem in Ro-Ro-ship design the final solution improved the original design in every chosen objective with a significant margin and demonstrated the value of Multi-Objective Design Optimization.
