Due to tendencies in tractor technology towards higher installed engine powers, higher vehicle weights and speeds up to 60 kph, also the requirements of the mechanical connection between tractor and implement/trailer have increased. Additionally there are customer demands for more functionality, modularity and comfort, which differ in some countries. Furthermore to the mentioned conditions hitch systems have to be conform, tested and approved according to national and/or European legislation. This report will concentrate on the hitch systems drawbar, piton type and 80 mm ball coupling. Based on the former solution for the tractors above 100 hp and a system, which has been just introduced for a smaller tractor range, it is described what aspects where considered for developing the new design. Further on there will be a detailed view on the new solution.
