A process of adhesive coating and bonding for silicon solar cells was designed according to the bonding characteristics of space solar cells, and an automatic manufacturing system was developed to perform the designed process. A mass of experiments have been conducted to show that the automatic manufacturing system has achieved the expected technical requirements, such as ensuring the thickness of the adhesive layer within 100-150 micrometer and effectively restraining the production of air bubbles. Meanwhile, the system has been verified to have the advantages of excellent bonding quality, high efficiency, high reliability, and low cost compared with manual work. A total of 10-20 automatic systems will be manufactured to bond space solar cells in the future. Researches on theoretical modeling and analysis on the manufacturing process are in progress, to provide reference to improve the bonding quality by changing relevant parameters.
