GETRAG FORD Transmissions has developed new electrical Hybrid (eHybrid) concepts based on Dual Clutch Transmission (DCT gearbox families). The overall concept strategy is based on a Modular Flexible Platform that provides commonality between a wide range of carlines in the market. There are mainly two platforms - a large platform as well as a small platform. Flexibility of the platforms maintains the possibility of adapting solutions in the range of Micro Hybrids, Mild Hybrids, and Full Hybrid transmissions. The overall concept is based on a manual lay shaft base transmission with 100% power shift functionality. The system is able to operate in parallel and serial modes while utilizing one or two small electrical motors attached to the input shafts. The electrical motor sizes can be chosen minimal because of having the e-motors connected at the input side of a flexible manual gearbox with the possibility of having a 19 times up-ratio. The eHybrid system provided by GFT is a Torque Split System in contrast to the Power Split Systems available in the market. The torque split system as such is a system with minimal power circulation to operate at a very high efficiency level.
