By the end of 2005 DaimlerChrysler had 36 fuel cell Mercedes Citaro busses in worldwide operation. These busses are used in daily operation in 10 European cities, in Perth/Australia and in Beijing/China. So far over 3.000.000 people have been transported by the Daimler- Chrysler fuel cell busses. The experience and the feedback since then was extraordinarily positive. In particular, the lifetime results in real world operation are highly satisfactory. Furthermore since 2004 DaimlerChrysler has 60 F-Cell cars (Mercedes A-Class) in customer operation. The F-Cell fleet is operated in four different regions of the world: USA (California, Michigan) Singapore, Japan and Germany (Berlin, Stuttgart). Within these programs the fuel cell technology is evaluated for its fitness for daily use. The accumulated mileage of all 100 vehicles in September 2006 was about 2.300.000 km. So far a fleet data acquisition system in the F-Cell cars has delivered several Terabyte of fuel cell and vehicle data. From this data essential information is subtracted by means of data mining. This insight from daily operation is used as input for the research and development on the next generations of fuel cell propulsion systems. DaimlerChrysler is focusing on improvements in the following key areas: robustness, lifetime, freeze start up and cost. Recent technical advancements regarding fuel cell technology (components and materials) have been integrated in the 6. DaimlerChrysler Research Car the F600, HyGenius. In this presentation the status of DaimlerChrysler's Fuel Cell Vehicle Fleet including the F600 and an outlook on the next fuel cell vehicle generation will be presented.
