This paper proposes a simple and efficient distributed broadcast algorithm for warning delivery services to be used in inter-vehicular ad hoc networks. The performance achieved by the proposed algorithm is compared against that of a simple probabilistic flooding scheme. Investigations are lead under two different kinds of vehicular traffic: i) the popular and commonly used Poisson-based mobility model, and ii) a microscopic traffic model. The authors' findings are twofold. First, they show by extensive simulation that the proposed solution is very effective; second, they show that vehicular traffic dynamics have an important impact on the network performance, especially under low density conditions.
