This paper presented the results of application of super hydrophilicity TiO2 coating on Shinkansen vehicle. Also effect of metallic powder on hydrophilicity of TiO2 coatings was investigated. It was found that durability of protection from dirt adhesion was less than five months in real vehicle tests. The reason of degradation on protection was due to the contamination of metal powders produced by abrasive wear on the coating surface. Accordingly, it was considered that the degradation of hydrophilicity was attributed to the thermal powder on the interface between TiO2 and water.
