In this final installment of the two-part serie are discussed additional options, and then provide guidelines for selection among all of the pneumatic conveying choices that are available. In contrary to part 1 where fixed systems are described, in the present paper are described road vehicles and ships. These systems including in part 1 are open systems, in which air is usually the conveying gas and it is simply drawn from the atmosphere and returned back to it after being filtered. For certain conveying tasks it is necessary to convey material in a more controlled environment. In a closed system the gas can be recirculated so the costs are significantly lower than in an open system using inert gas. If the material is not fed into a pipeline and then sucked or blowed to its destination, new innovative systems are available. These are plug-forming (pulse-phase) systems, bypass systems, and air injection systems. Furthermore are described in details fluidized-motion systems, air-assisted gravity conveyors, and full-channel conveyors. For a given processing situation, the choice among those options and the choice of pneumatic conveying or of an alternative mechanical-conveying strategy depends on two factors: the system requirements, and the properties of the material to be conveyed. The following system requirements are explained: multiple pickup, multiple delivery, multiple pickup and delivery, multiple materials handling, multiple distance conveying, conveying from stockpiles, and startup with full pipeline. The common material properties that affect the choosing between conveying options are as follows: cohesive, combustible, damp or wet, electrostatic, erosive, friable, granular, hygroscopic, low melting point, radioactive, toxic, and very fine.
