Metal working fluids are contaminated with their degraded products, metal soaps, metal chips and microorganism etc. during their service period and produce foul odor at the end of their service life. It may be difficult to clean the workpiece surface by an aqueous cleaner after the metal working operation because of its contamination. A large amount of wastewater and contaminated metal working fluids are generated in the cleaning process. And the service life of metal working fluids will be reduced due to their degradation and contamination. The degradation of metal working fluids is presumed to be mainly caused by microorganisms. A pilot plant facility for purification and reuse of metal working fluids and alkaline cleaner was installed at a case washing process of auto-transmission plant in H motor company in Korea. The facility consists of four hollow fiber modules which has total membrane area of 5.6 m2. And its average flux is 40 liter/m2 hr.
