An appropriate modelling of the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) and correlated EM-components combined with their integration in a power train and vehicle structure, gives the opportunity to optimise at the component level and at the same time to recognize and evaluate normal and exceptional situations in the vehicle system. Using the proposed methods and procedures, a wide variety of simulation tests of complete vehicles may be done quickly and accurately, giving the opportunity to virtually evaluate standard electrical values as well as interesting additional values like emission and fuel consumption. By accurate modelling and selection of appropriate parameters optimisation loops may be automated, so the engineer has the opportunity to significantly accelerate the design and development process and at the same time decrease the occupancy of experimental vehicles. As compared with the empirical way, a clear separation of influence parameters may be done, so the reasons and effects in the complete vehicle may be better understood leading to an accurate optimisation according to the required heading values.
