An advanced wheel speed sensor is developed, which can detect extremely low speed and the rotating direction of each wheel. By applying this sensor, the new function of brake control has been developed. One is Downhill Assist Control (DAC) which controls the vehicle at constant low speed while driving downhill on a steep slope, and the other is Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) which reduces unintended backward movement of the vehicle when starting uphill.
