As a countermeasure against traffic accidents AHS (Advanced Cruise-assist Highway System) has been proposed as a support system for drivers, by providing them with information from road equipment. The AHS is designed to reduce traffic accidents by half with three phases of support: 1. information, 2. warnings, and 3. operation. The relationship between the reliability of information provided from a safety system and the driver's unsafe action are investigated. Unsafe action probabilities at an intersection are estimated based on the risk homeostasis theory, which regards driving action as cognition and avoidance of a risk. The effect of implementing a collision prevention support system at intersections without traffic signals is investigated based on event trees.
