Magnet-based equipment finds extensive use in the automotive, home appliance, metal furniture, HVAC equipment, lawn and garden and other industries that make extensive use of ferrous alloys. Common applications include conveying sheets and blanks from cut-to-length lines, transferring sheets and blanks to presses, and moving parts from presses and through oiling and coating operations. Working with the right magnetic equipment (permanent magnets) can raise productivity from existing press lines by keeping production machinery fed at a timely, accelerated pace. In the present paper some major devices like lifters, sheet fanners, low-profile-, beltless-, timing-belt conveyors, stacking/destacking conveyors are described. Its obvious that even very simple, basic tools can contribute signiftcantly to over all productivity and safety. On the other hand system integration can maximize the efficiency and level of automation achievable from magnetic blank-handling equipment. But, as the author says, no single manufacturer makes everything required to equip the typical blanking operation for automated material handling. The best alternative is to work with a major equipment supplier with professional engineers that maintain close ties with experienced system-integration specialists. These professionals have the expertise and practical know-how to help select the needed equipment, the related controls and interfaces and they can integrate the new equipment.
