New intelligent sensors are introduced for vehicles. Vision enhancement is realized by infrared night vision in fog, rain, snow or darkness. Camera based electronic mirrors replace the traditional mirrors, one on each wing, an upper center camera and a lower one used when reversing. Driver vigilance is monitored from the steering wheel movement, lateral position of the vehicle and eyelid movement. Finally a three-dimensional perception of the inner-space monitoring including occupant detection is shown. A video sensor inside a vehicle has to cope with a non-manageable environment, mainly related to light disturbance. New CMOS sensors with logarithmic response and adapted image processing should minimize these problems.
