Powder metallurgy has played a major role in the industrialization of Turkey. This is reflected in powders, automotive parts production, hard metal and diamond cutting tools, magnets, ceramics and porous concrete with a total market of about dollar 150 million (US) in 2001. Strong trends in automotive production and the stone market suggest a doubling of this figure in 4 to 5 years. Turkey is endowed with an extensive and capable network of universities and research institutions active in all aspects of powder metallurgy and particulate materials.
