An efficient power controller for on-board cryo cooler is presented. Cryo coolers are employed in spacecrafts for active temperature control applications, like in, infrared astronomy, Thermal Infrared Radiometer (TIR), superconductivity applications in communication payloads. A cryo cooler is being developed for active temperature control for TIR payloads in remote sensing spacecraft missions. This paper presents a power controller for the above. The power controller generates sinewave output for compressor and displacer linear motors. It controls the phase angle between compressor and displace linear motors, which is an essential requirement to achleve the required cooling as well as to maintain the temperature. Frequency and amplitude controls are incorporated to achieve the long life and better performance. The power controller employs four DC/AC converters having input from spacecraft 28 V - 42 V DC bus.
