Piping natural gas has to be intensified next future because of a growing demand on energy carriers. Gas-turbine plants are commonly used for conveying the natural gas with pipelines. Emission of the natural gas and flue gases from the gas-turbine plants are the main sources of air pollution. The losses of natural gas during conveying (compressor stations, pipeline damage) are below 0.3 % of the total volume of gas to be transported. The flue gases from gas-turbine plants contain nitrogen and carbon oxides. Constructive and technological measures have to be undertaken to avoid the air pollution with nitrogen oxides and carbon monoxide under Russian conditions. Low-emission combustion of hydrocarbon fuels, flue-gas treatment, optimum fuel-loading the gas turbines, permanent diagnostics of the turbines and decreasing the combustion temperature were recommended.
