This paper presents an object-oriented software package for online monitoring of fatigue crack damage in aircraft structures. Earlier work of Caplin et al. (00) has introduced the concept of Damage Mitigating Control (DMC) of aircraft for attaining structural durability and performance. The code continuously monitors the (cyclic) structural load and computes the fatigue crack damage on-line in the state-space setting. Fatigue crack growth calculations and comparisons between the controllers (Performance controller and Damage mitigating controllers) are done using the state-space model (Patankar and Ray 00), which has been proved to be quite reliable.
