A survey of engineering professionals on 80 technological themes on automotive production engineering, which are predicted to be realized by the year of 2025, has been conducted. The survey was conducted using the Delphi method on each of the 80 themes in order to collect the opinions of professionals not only in the field of automotive industries but also in other industries or research centers. From the results of the survey, the group members were able to present guidelines that will indicate the direction of development of automotive production toward the future. The results also provided goals to aim for in developing the automotive production technologies on a long-term basis. The survey results also reveal the predicted time of each of the 80 technological themes on automotive production engineering will disperse from the year of 2005 to 2035, but most of them will be realized by the year 2025. And, in regard to the priority of the themes, it is obvious that the importance of environmental and energy-related themes and diversified value-related themes are increasingly being realized regardless of industries in which respondents belong. Although there is a tendency to lower its priority, concerns connected to 'automation' points out the psychological stress and other problems on workers. The autors found the characteristic that these concerns are indicated and relates with the theme. By making full use of their approach to objectively judge the status of technologies, they divided the priority and the time of realization of each theme into 4 areas. This was done to look at positions and directions of each theme in its present stage and, further, to present 'a guideline for the future technological development' which is in fact their target of the survey. It was also made clear in what areas professionals are in short supply in order to conduct the technological developments of the themes.
