The new trends in the automotive industry are towards a wider variety of vehicle models producing on fewer platforms so the control of sheet metal forming process has been a key factor for reducing costs and time in high and increasing competitive areas. In the paper progress in car body sheet production has been discussed. A proper selection of technological lubricants allows to obtain high quality drawings. The influence of a technological lubricant and tool geometry on the thinning of drawing walls was analyzed using computer simulation. The influence of a type of coating on corrosion resistance of steel sheets has also been discussed.
