Bismaleimide (BMI) composites are used on important, complex and diverse high performance structural applications. An analysis of the application factors will enhance the understanding of the advantages of BMI composites for current and future applications. The BMI applications range from military programs such as the Air Force's F-22 to engine parts of Formula-1 race cars. Although the application range of BMI composites is wide, the factors for selecting BMI are very similar. Such factors and benefits include the highest service temperature capability of any addition cure matrix resin and epoxy like processing. BMI's can be also be processed by alternative methods, such as, resin transfer molding (RTM).
