First invented 160 years ago, the fuel cell newer was exploited for electricity production due to material and cost problems in its production. Growing concern over the environmental impact has led to renewed interest for this way of generating electricity. There is now a real possibility of the technology being used in cars and for electricity production in the next ten years.
