High-speed ground transportation (Hsgt) systems are defined as operating in on fixed guideways at intercity cruising speeds of at least 480 km/h. Specific research areas were needed to provide data necessary to a decision to construct an hsgt system. This paper presents a condensed version of the final report of the panel on hsgt which was convened by the commerce technical advisory board of the u.S. Department of commerce.
