The paper discusses different types of steering in articulated frame steer vehicles. Basing on theoretical analysis and operation experience the advantages and significant problems of articulated frame steer vehicles steering are highlighted. The classification of steering gears is suggested. The author also discusses his concept and the results of selecting the optimum structure and geometry of steering gears with the use of multi-criterion optimization principle. This method incorporates the criteria resulting from the performance and handling requirements for the vehicle. The obtained new results are compared with the existing ones. The article also presents the problems concerning the articulated frame steer vehicle stability connected with the motion dynamics of the vehicle and with the dynamic of the very steer system.
