Photogrammetry is a dimensional measurement technique achieved through the use of photographic images. By precise two-dimensional optical measurement of a set of photographs, three-dimensional coordinates of points of interest can be extracted. Photogrammetry has been used for years in the ship building, architectural and civil engineering fields. Photogrammetry is the basis of all aerial surveying. Photogrammetry is beginning to be recognized as a solution to many difficult measurement tasks in the aerospace community. Due to the advances in microcomputers and image processing involving vision systems, photogrammetric state of the art is rapidly advancing.
