The report summarizes a literature study of properties related to sulphide scales formed in sulphide aqueous environments. The different types of scales are presented, and corrosion rates at various scale-forming conditions are reported from literature. It is evident that factors influencing on the formation of sulphide scales are: partial pressure of hydrogen sulphide gas, addition of carbondioxide gas, pH, temperature, chloride concentration of the electrolyte and possibly the surface condition of the steel.
