To give a wide survey on the performance of cryogenic heat pipes, various tests with 11 different types of heat pipes had been performed in the temperature range of 70 K - 200 K. The tests included 4 working fluids (CH4, C2H6, N2, CF4) and capillary structures of various types (4 geometries of open grooves, screen covered grooves, different layers of screen at the wall, 'eight-artery' and a 'modular structure'). The results confirm the advantages of axial-grooved heat pipes. The maximum heat transfer capability has been achieved with screen covered grooves.
