A review is given of current aerodynamic heating problems encountered in re-entry vehicle design which involve forst-order shape change effects. Included in this review are: 1) nosetips, 2) nosetip - frustum material discontinuity, and 3) recovery spoilers. In each case, examples of the coupling between aerodynamic heating and its associated shape change are presented. (Kursetz)
