As offshore operations have progressed into deeper water, a number of mechanical pipeline connectors have been developed to speed and reduce the cost of connecting pipe on the ocean floor. The various connector systems utilize different methods for mechanically anchoring and sealing into the pipeline. The differing details of the connectors will be discussed. In addition, the general application and installation procedures will be discussed, including the misalignment and the pipe end gap compensation capability.
