A technique is developed to convert the covariance analysis of certain time-varying linear systems into time-invariant dynamics form, allowing an arbitrary time step for the solution of the differential equations. In the model of the linear system some of the system states are forced by states in which the coupling is in the form of sinusoids, exponentials, polynomials, or their products. By state variable manipulation, the time variation is transformed to the noise term. Then, by augmenting the linear variance equation, the time variation is removed. The method is illustrated with an example showing the covariance propagation of ring laser gyro errors in a strapdown inertial system into navigation errors during turns.
