The possible use of aircraft-derived roll-angle measurements to detect and track maneuvers is investigated. A realistic database recovered from civil aircraft has been used to determine the quality to be expected from received measurements and to test the trackers developed. The measurement quality has been found sufficient to allow satisfactory operation of simple maneuver detection and tracking schemes so that tracking accuracies comparable to those achieved by present trackers only during straight-line flight may also be achieved during maneuvers.
