Recent changes in United Kingdom Electricity Board regulations have made it possible to operate small AC generators in parallel with the mains low voltage supply, and this has opened up an opportunity for standard small scale total energy units. Following these changes Serck embarked on the development of a small scale standard total energy unit based on the 2.25 litre Land Rover gas engine. The product and the aims of the development programme are described together with illustrations of the fuel savings and the range potential applications.
