Explores the ideas for various types of large spacecraft to supplant the small spacecraft currently used. The characteristics of the Baseline Experimental Geostationary Platform are shown. It provides a number of advanced features including multiple antennas, large banks of transponders, baseband processors and extensive power generating/distribution system over a common bus. Another application of a large space platform is the land mobile satellite system, third generation.
