Computers used in tactical military weapon systems have added immeasurably to the capability of today's armed forces, speeding reaction time, increasing accuracy of the system, and performing sort and storage functions that had previously been considered impossible. The introduction of LSI single-chip microprocessors allows the integration of many support functions, previously off-line add-on items, directly into computer system hardware.
