Describes an integrated computer control system at British Leyland's Heavy Vehicle plant. The system includes an information system which covers goods receiving, general stores control, manufacturing process planning, vehicle build support, vehicle testing and attendance recording. The system also includes an assembly line control and an automatic warehouse. The system is based on an IBM 3031 mainframe which supports the IMS database system. The rest of the system is based on minicomputers from Hewlett-Packard and Data General.
