Discusses the stochastic behaviors of vehicles in the off-line station areas of the computer controlled vehicle system (CVS). The off-line station is a single loading line with a holding space. The analysis of the station operation performance is based on idealized models. Vehicles arriving at a check point (CP) located on the main line are divided into the following three types: loaded vehicles destined for the station, loaded vehicles destined for other stations, and empty vehicles. It is also assumed that passengers arrive at the station by a Poisson process with an average arrival rate beta, and that the maximum number of passengers allowed in the station is N. With the model described above, the authors analyse station performance due to stochastic effects of the random arrivals of vehicles to the CP and of passengers to the station.
